The Dragonfly design is one of the more popular Tiffany designs. As per, "The Lamps of Tiffany" by Dr. Neustadt, "...this shade provides the craftsman with unusual opportunities to show his skill and imagination. The insect itself can be endowed with varicolored bodies, eyes and wings. Then, since the shade was described by the Tiffany studios as "Dragonfly and Water Design," he is free to create any sort of stream or pond he prefers along with every kind of atmosphere in which the insect flies. The mood may range from sunny peace to sad foreboding." This shade is a composite reproduction of original lamp shades as pictured in Dr. Neustadt's book. Antique Tiffany style lamps were constructed of dense opalescent stained glass which masks the light source and shows color by reflected light when the light is turned on.
